A new spin on Lebron James’s chalk talk
The commercial features a couple sharing a bench at the outset. They’re watching three guys play a pickup game of basketball on a court in the neighborhood. The music gets wilder as the guy on the bench drops his powdered donut and the ball bounces off the court.
The guy then slowly begins to brush off the donut’s powdered sugar. Then, just before getting up, he tosses the sugar into the air in a theatrical fashion, much as LeBron James does before every game.
The man tries to make a basket with the ball while adding a little LeBron flare as the announcer states, “Ohio has given birth to some of the greatest athletes in the world.” Unfortunately, it is not successful since the ball is intercepted by the top of the backboard.
The punch line is subsequently delivered by the voiceover: “And you are not one of them.” The ad continues by telling its audience that they may “even the odds at betJACK.” Then, the ad ends with the guy pumping his fist while staring at the betJACK app.
Reference to Nicklaus’s triumph at the 1986 Masters
BetJACK’s most recent commercial has three middle-aged golfers, introducing the sport as a theme. The golfer with the yellow shirt looks like the Golden Bear. When he gets ready to putt, he turns to his pals and inquires as to whether or not they are “ready for the magic”.
The golfer evaluates the stroke, exactly as Nicklaus once did. He then makes the comment that it’s a “chance for a birdie and a sixth green jacket”. This is alluding to Nicklaus’ illustrious triumph at the 1986 Masters. The golfer says, “Yes, sir,” as he strikes the ball. This made reference to Verne Lundquist’s famous CBS call of Jack Nicklaus’ putt at the Masters’ 17th hole in 1986.
However, the putt misses to the right, causing the narrator to say, “And you are not one of them”. The golfer’s companion then responds, “Nope, sir,” with a sneer.

Mentioning Ohio’s Great Legends
BetJACK released its first ad a few weeks before the legalization of Ohio sports betting on January 1. The campaign included witty allusions to the red sweater vest worn by former Ohio State head coach Mike Tressel and to the “chicken-flap” batting posture used by Cincinnati Reds icon Joe Morgan.
The very first version of the betJACK commercial also featured LeBron James. A guy is seen playing basketball by himself in his driveway as the commercial begins. He slams the ball down and does the “silencer” dance made famous by LeBron James. The man’s “LEBRAD” license plate is a tribute to the basketball great.
