Cleveland Browns sports betting partnership with Bally for legal gambling

With sports betting now legal in 30 states, Ohio sports fans are eagerly waiting for the legislation on betting in their state. Although fantasy sports and gambling at racetracks are already legal in Ohio, online sports betting in Ohio is yet to be launched.

However, it is expected that by January 1, 2023, sports betting will be legal in Ohio. This is because of an amended HB-29 passed by both legislative chambers in December, then signed by Gov. Mike DeWine. As a result of this bill, The Ohio Casino Control Commission is now in charge of developing the rules that will govern the new gambling market.

Who Can Get the Betting Licenses?

Casinos and sports teams will all be preferred for mobile sports betting licenses. Initially, they will all receive one license, with the possibility of a second if the applicant can demonstrate how it will benefit Ohio financially. Additionally, the bill also calls for the conversion of lottery kiosks to limit sports betting in convenience stores, bars, and restaurants.

To be fair, legal sports betting in Ohio was on the verge of becoming a reality in 2020, with bill sponsors from the House and Senate meeting to reach an agreement. However, the Senate proposed far too many changes, and there was far too little time to complete the work. Another attempt made in the summer of 2021 with bill SB176 also failed.

Cleveland Browns sports betting partnership

Bill HB-29 allows for up to 25 Ohio sportsbooks to open immediately, and casinos and sports teams that already have one of those licenses can also apply for a second one. The Cleveland Browns started their partnership with Bally Bet Ohio, so we can assume that Bally Bet will offer special rewards at their local sports betting location and the app. Also, we don’t know which operators will be available in Ohio so far, but some sportsbooks appear to be more likely than others. Here are a few of the most likely ones:

  • Barstool Sportsbook
  • BetMGM
  • Caesars
  • DraftKings
  • FanDuel
  • Hard Rock

Other Possible Sportsbooks

The state of Ohio’s sports betting law allows for the launch of at least 25 sportsbook apps. Twenty-one of those 25 will be distributed to the state’s ten sports teams and eleven casino locations. So, this means that other operators coming to Ohio, possibly include:

  • Bally Bet
  • Bet365
  • BetRivers
  • Fox Bet
  • Golden Nugget
  • PointsBet
  • TwinSpires
  • WynnBet

Betting Partnerships

A number of sportsbooks are forming official alliances with sports teams and leagues. Indeed, sports betting partnerships have grown in importance as a source of revenue for teams and a means of assisting sportsbooks with customer acquisition. Hence, these formal relationships frequently result in special promotions and odds boosts for the sports bettor. Here is a list of Ohio’s sports betting partners:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA)
  • Cleveland Browns (NFL)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (NFL)
  • Cleveland Indians (MLB)
  • Cincinnati Reds (MLB)
  • Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL)
  • FC Cincinnati (MLS)
  • Columbus Crew (MLS)

Overall, with the legalization of sports betting, you will have tons of sports betting options and trusted sportsbooks you can choose to place bets with. All in all, making it a rewarding experience for you, the bettor.
