Cleveland Cavaliers – Last season, the Cavs were a side that had a surprising amount going for them. That is until the injury list took its toll, and the dreams of a playoff soon disappeared.
But last season wasn’t the only one that saw the Cleveland Cavaliers come to a dead end. The Cavs have had the second-worst NBA record over three seasons since LeBron James left the team for the Lakers.
However, maybe things will turn around for them this season with the speedy acquisition of the Donovan Mitchell Cavs trade.
Back in April, just weeks after the latest poor season, things did not look good for Cleveland.
Okay, so the 44-win season they had just come from was a sure sight better than previously, but it’s not great. It was time to tinker with the roster somewhat. And tinker they did.
Jump forward to today, and the Cavs have made an impressive trade by taking on Mitchell.
This is a literal game-changer. No longer is Cleveland the perennial underdog story, but they have a solid chance of actually making an impact in the championship.

Grabbing Donovan
So, how did the Cavs manage such an impressive trade this year? Well, with some very clever drafting and some real sport on trades that happened in a timely fashion for the team, things just seemed to align.
Okay, so there might be a bit of luck involved too.
However, we should give the team its due already. The Cavs already have a strong three in the form of Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley.
It’s just that they’ve added an All-Star to this threesome, making it an emphatic quartet of power.
Can they handle it all?
With this trade, there will be a ton of pressure in place. Expectations both within the camp and without are going to be pretty high. And, it’s likely to last as these four men are still young.
If things work out, the Cavs could be the one to watch for the better part of half a decade.
But, let’s also note that Cleveland didn’t come out of this unscathed. This trade cost them dearly.
Swaps were made too, and the most significant loss here is Markkanen. Once viewed as their best option, he was incredibly successful at creating a unique frontcourt.
Combined with the trio above, these four players had an impressive offensive rating. So now, they’re going to start the season with a hole at small forward. Of course, they do still have options.
Because of this, everything is still very much up in the air regarding the Cavalier’s future. But, the Mitchell trade is still a big one.
Let’s also not forget the impact this will have on sports betting options surrounding the Cavs. It will likely dramatically bring down their odds in games once the season starts on October 18.
