What’s the current state of Ohio sports gambling?

Ohio is one of just 13 states that has teams from all four major sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA, and the NHL). Ohio also features two Major League Soccer clubs (FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew), as well as Ohio State football and numerous renowned college basketball programs.

Ohio sports bettors will be able to legally gamble on each of these sports in less than six months!

Gov. Mike DeWine signed legislation to legalize retail and online sports betting in Ohio in December 2021. On January 1, 2023, sports betting will become legal in Ohio, so the countdown is truly on.

Residents of Ohio have grown used to travelling to one of four border states, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and West Virginia, in order to make legal wagers. They will soon be able to do so from the comfort of their own homes within state borders.

With a plethora of professional sports alternatives, a strong desire for sports betting, and multiple licenses available, Ohio may quickly become one of the major sports-betting states in the United States.

So, which sportsbooks and Ohio betting apps will be available to gamblers this coming winter?

DraftKings Ohio and FanDuel Ohio have been offering daily fantasy sports tournaments in the state since 2018. Both DraftKings and FanDuel are likely to offer new clients sign-up bonuses worth more than $1,000.

Although Hard Rock Sportsbook has not yet filed for an Ohio sports gambling license, the online sportsbook operator has tweeted a $500 betting incentive to Ohioans who download its app.

Ohio will issue three kinds of licenses to operators: Type A, Type B, and Type C.

Type A licences permit online sports betting. Retail sports betting is permitted under Type B, while sports betting kiosks are permitted under Type C.

Each Ohio professional sports team, racino, and casino will be allowed to apply for a Type A licence and, if desired, partner with a sportsbook operator. NASCAR might run a sportsbook at Lexington’s Mid-Ohio Speedway.

In January of this year, Tipico and Columbus Crew established a long-term collaboration. According to the team’s website, Tipico intends to establish a mobile sports betting app in the state and will obtain entitlement rights to major crew assets such as the Tipico Beer Garden and Tipico Club, as well as brand integration at Lower.com Field.

betPARX, located less than 20 miles outside of Columbus, is scheduled to become the sole sports betting sponsor of the Memorial Tournament, which is hosted each year at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin. The PGA Tour says that in March, the Memorial Tournament and betPARX came to an agreement.

When it comes to choosing the finest betting app on the market, DraftKings, BetMGM, PointsBet, Caesars, FanDuel, Betfred, and BetRivers are all excellent choices. They are all accessible to iOS and Android users alike.

iPhone customers will be able to access their preferred sportsbooks directly from the App Store. Because the Google Play Store permits gambling applications on a case-by-case basis, Android users may check the platform or go straight to the website of their preferred sportsbook.
